GPR153 Receptor Antibodies
GPR153 is an orphan class A GPCR whose pharmacology, endogenous ligand and physiological function remain poorly characterized. The receptor is predominantly expressed in the central nervous system, with detectable expression in several brain regions, although its precise cellular distribution has not yet been comprehensively defined. GPR153 has also been detected in peripheral tissues, but available expression data suggest that its major biological relevance may be within the CNS. Its G-protein coupling has not been firmly established, and there is currently insufficient evidence to assign a definitive signaling pathway or second-messenger system. GPR153 has been implicated in neuronal signaling and potentially in the regulation of metabolic and neuroendocrine processes, but these functional assignments remain preliminary. No endogenous ligand has been conclusively identified, and GPR153 is therefore still classified as an orphan receptor. There are currently no well-validated selective agonists or antagonists that can be used as established pharmacological tools for GPR153. No approved drug or clinical-stage therapeutic targeting GPR153 is currently available. Overall, GPR153 represents a poorly explored orphan GPCR for which ligand discovery, signaling characterization and physiological validation are required before its potential as a therapeutic target can be properly assessed.
